Harbor Light Church, Manns Harbor, NC:
Great thing are happening at Harbor Light Church in Manns Harbor, North Carolina. Their 12 year vision of an outreach center is almost complete. The outreach center will not only be used as an outreach center for the community but also there are plans to move their sanctuary into the new building later this summer. It was Pastors Anthony and Sharon Ralph’s vision for the new building. After years of hard work, dedication, and commitment their vision will be coming to pass.
It was a blessing to visit and preach at the church earlier this month. I am always greeted with great hospitality and compassion at Manns Harbor. The people there love the word and it was an honor to preach there. I had great fellowship with Pastor Anthony and Sharon Ralph during my time in Manns Harbor.
Hertford IPCC, Hertford, NC:
I had the privilege of visiting and preaching at Hertford IPCC in Hertford, North Carolina. Pastor Gene and Gloria Boyce have pastored Hertford IPCC faithfully for over 30 years. On the Sunday night I visited the church there were several visitors present. The people there received the word and there was a great altar service as the Holy Spirit ministered to several people.
I had a great time fellowshipping with Gene and Gloria Boyce during my time there. Pastor Gene shared many stories and testimonies of what God has done in the ministry for him. God is faithful!
Pearl Street Pentecostal Church, Elizabeth, NC:
Pearl Street Pentecostal Church continues to do upgrades to their church which is a sign of improvement. During my visit, the church was in the process of getting new furnaces and duct work. On Wednesday night, church was in the fellowship hall in the annex building because the sanctuary was being worked on. I was asked to teach that evening. The message was well received. Before the service I has the privilege of spending time with William and Janice Boyce. After service, Pastor Rick Lowery and I enjoyed some fellowship as we discussed ways to grow the IPCC.
During my time in the Mid-Eastern District I also had fellowship with Pastor Chad and April Cannon of Richmond, Pastor Jimmy Brockway of Virginia Beach and Pastor and Sis. Moyler of Chesapeake. The Mid-Eastern District has many wonderful people in it! Pray that the Mid-Eastern District Continues to grow.
Church Leadership Conference Board Meeting, Pigeon Forge, TN:
The Church Leadership Conference is sponsored by 4 denominations: International Pentecostal Church of Christ, Church of God Mountain Assembly, Congregational Holiness, and Pentecostal Free Will Baptist. In February of every year there is a board meeting to discuss the Church Leadership Conference that will be held in September. Each denomination rotates the chair. This year I had the privilege of chairing the event. The Church Leadership Conference will be September 19th – 21st this year and the theme will be “Bridging the Gap”. The speakers for the Church Leadership Conference will be Dr. Mark and Sandra Williams.
PCCNA Meeting, New Orleans, LA:
The Pentecostal and Charismatic Church of North America (PCCNA) was founded in 1994. The Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA) is an interdenominational ellowship of Pentecostal and charismatic churches and denominations in North America, existing for the purpose of promoting
cooperation and understanding. It is a successor to the Pentecostal Fellowship of North America (PFNA). The IPCC is a long time member of the PCCNA.
I serve on the Prayer Commission that is led by Doug Small. This year the PCCNA meeting was held in New Orleans, LA. The Prayer Commission did a prayer walk around the city of New Orleans. The PCCNA has called 2018 the Year of Prayer. As a result, many fellowships and denominations are calling a 50 day time of prayer and fasting from April 1st to May 20th.
National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) Meeting, Wheaton, IL:
The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) is made up of nearly 40 denominations and thousands of churches, schools, nonprofits, businesses and individuals who understand that together they can do more. The NAE evangelical constituency includes millions of Americans who take the Bible seriously and believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
The NAE meeting this year was held at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. Wheaton College is the place where Billy Graham went to college. The emphasis was on how to reach Muslims for Jesus Christ. We also discussed the term “evangelical”, what it means and how we should be winning the lost.
Spring Encounter, London, OH:
The Spring Encounter hosted by the Central District turned out very well. A special thanks to District Overseer Ervin and Cheryl Hargrave for organizing the event. They put a lot of hard work into the leadership event.
Evangelist Ron and Edna Wagers did a great job at encouraging leaders to persevere and to stay steadfast. We are always encouraged by their ministry.
Funeral for Edna Shonkwiler:
Edna was the oldest member of the Portsmouth International Pentecostal Church of Christ and the IPCC. She locally was a Sunday School teacher, song leader, board member, trustee, ladies’ auxiliary member, custodian, secretary, treasurer and drove people to church. She also was mother of Portsmouth IPCC Pastor, Gary Shonkwiler. The word to describe Edna was “faithful”.
Rev. Clyde Hughes officiated the service and did a wonderful job organizing and preaching a very good eulogy. Pastors Larry Blevins, Trudy Wright, Cline McCallister, and myself also helped either at the funeral service or grave sight.
